Without shaming people for their selection of hair products, we felt people may be fed up with putting products in their hair that cause scalp issues, damage hair health, and even create a risk for long-term disease. Being hair product users who were fed up with synthetic products that are generally considered “the industry best”, we created this product for ourselves, but we're proud to share it with you.

We're a proud 1% for the Planet Member -- this ensures that 1% of all Highland sales are contributed to environmental non-profits committed to protecting our home. In 2024 alone, we donated more than $40,000 to fighting the climate crisis at hand. We’re also partners with Corso which helps fuel carbon-neutral shipping. We’ve already helped offset more than 100k pounds of carbon emissions to date… We’re always looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint. For these reasons, we employ aluminum on all of our product packaging and emphasize cardboard shipping materials that are 100% compostable. We’re always committed to educating ourselves on new information and opportunities that will propel us to an even greener future.

The Pomade feels like a thick, rich butter as you spread and melt it evenly into your palms. The smell? Kind of like you’re spending a warm summer morning in the rocky mountains. Woody, piney, and just generally lovely. The scent dissipates shortly after application, leaving a fresh aroma.

Absolutely not. However, we like to joke that ourormulations are so clean that even our pets would love them.

Our Pomade is designed for all hair types and textures and works best on short-medium length hair. Most traditional stylers rely on harsh hold agents that leave your hair stiff, dry, and locked in place. Ours does the opposite and is not SUPER high hold (by design). In terms of style, the Pomade will still effortlessly provide structure and a medium, 24-hour hold while allowing for natural movement, meaning that hands running through your hair won't disrupt your style. In terms of hair and scalp health, the Pomade not only replaces the toxic goop you’re breaking up with, but includes botanical ingredients that improve your hair and scalp health each time you use it.

No way, José. Though the Pomade's natural and hydrating ingredients do create a low-shine, you shouldn’t find it to be greasy or crunchy like other Pomades. As long as you emulsify it properly (leaving just a clear coat of product on your hands before applying), it’s lightweight and re-workable throughout the entire day so you can run your hands through your hair with zero grease, crunch or unwelcomed residue.
